Help Us Bring Anou Home
On Monday, July 29, our co-owner and friend Anou Vongbandith was detained by ICE. He now faces deportation to Laos — a country he left as a child more than 40 years ago. With his wife Anh, Anou opened Das Good Cafe to share culture, care, and community through food. Today, that community is rallying to keep him home.
“We were coming out of our house to go to work,” Anh told Resolve Philly. “Then ICE showed up.”
Anou has lived in Germantown for years. He’s raised a family here, built a business here, and shown up for neighbors every day. Now, due to a decades-old immigration case, he’s at risk of being removed from the only home he’s ever known.
He also faces serious health challenges, including a heart condition that requires daily care. Being separated from his family and support system puts his health and life at risk.
